TextDrive

On February 25, 2005, TextDrive offered another hosting for life deal. Matt Mullenweg mentioned it in one sentence and linked to this page. Someone commented a few days later: “Aaaaand, it’s over! Sold out.”

That is the complete public record of VCTWO.

It came between the VC200 — the founding round in 2004, two hundred people at $200 each — and the Mixed Grill and Three Martini Lunch that followed the Joyent merger in November 2005. The naming convention is consistent. The documentation is not.

TextDrive ran this way: fast, for people who were paying attention. VCTWO was announced, filled, and gone before most people knew it existed. Dean would not have considered that a problem.
